This one gave me pause...

...I'm sitting at my computer in the kitchen, both the kids and the hubs are in the living room. All of the sudden I hear hubs say "please get off your brothers' head."

Kids are...interesting...creatures. Are they not? :D

La Revolucion des Chinchillas

This cracked my ass up:

This is my friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. He squirts water on my legs to keep the Fucking mosquitos away so I can sit out here while the kids play in the pool. I'm learning to make a really cool patterned necklace with jump rings...looks like a simple form of chain maille, though it's probably not considered as such. Fun stuff.

Ride #2 with hubs

So hubs asked me this morning if I wanted to take a ride. So we did. We went to Harris and rode the beginner loop, then the first loop of the intermediate, then the beginner loop again. He went and rode the beginner loop once more after I said enough. It was soooo humid! I forget how humid it gets here in NC during the summer.

Current conditions:

WRAL-TV Studios
Temperature 79°F
Dew Point 70°F
Relative Humidity 76%
Heat Index 82°F
Wind Northeast 4 mph
Pressure 30.09 Pressure Rising
Precip since midnight 0"
Recorded at 11:45 a.m., Jun 15, 2009

Finished my ride...

Ahhh....what a great ride.

Weather Conditions - a bit hot and somewhat humid:

WRAL-TV Studios
Temperature 84°F
Dew Point 67°F
Relative Humidity 57%
Heat Index 87°F
Wind Northeast 2 mph
Pressure 30.03 Pressure Falling
Precip since midnight 0"
Recorded at 5:40 p.m., Jun 14, 2009

But for not having ridden anything over 4 miles in the past month, I'm thinking 10 miles in 68 minutes ain't half bad. :D

I did notice that carrying an extra 10 pounds of body weight makes a HUGE difference. Damn it. :(

Damn...I LOVE riding.

Damn...I LOVE riding. I stopped midway into my ride for a snack. I'm off to finish my ride. Big biking smile on my face. :-)

Pics from Briar Chapel/National Trail Day Shindig

A few photos from the big party at Briar Chapel (the pool area ROCKS people!):

OMG! New tat idea!!!

Oh my...there are so many tats I want...little turtles swimming up the side of my foot amongst some tribal like designs; a big kokopelli backpiece; "love" on my wrist; a ying/yang turtle...but I was sitting here looking at turtle tats and came up with something that I think would be too cool - to incorporate my love of biking with my love of turtles...why not make the shell of the turtle a cog (or sprocket, whatever it's called) and do a tribal design inside it? I'll have to get it drawn and see if the output is as cool as I think it would be.

***wants so many more tats...hubs will shit***
***wants a nasal piercing too...sigh***

Ride with hubs

Well, hubs and I took a ride together this past Thursday. We went to Harris and rode the beginner and both intermediate loops.

At the beginning, I was so ON...it was great! I was riding things I never ride - I don't think I got off the bike at all until we got to the beginning of loop 2. I had forgotten how hilly and rooty loop 2 is. And not having ridden the trails for a LONG time, I was T-I-R-E-D by then. Then one of my cables came loose and was rubbing against my tire, so hubs fixed that. Then my seat got all crazy on me and was sinking and falling and moving...we never did get that straightened out. Once that stuff started happening, I lost my bike mojo. I was pissed at myself for getting psyched out, but not at all surprised. So I walked a bit of loop 2.

What really surprised me was how freaking tired I was! I can ride 13 road miles no problem - we did 3 trail miles and I was DONE. WTF? But I'll continue to do both, I think. I've come to realize that I enjoy riding on road - it's the freedom to ride right from the house and away from my issues...the calm that comes with just pedaling and feeling the sun on my face and the breeze...But I think I enjoy it differently than trail riding. They are...different. Both fun in their own way.

Anyway, hubs and I had a pretty good time, despite my pissiness and issues during the ride. It still rubs me the wrong way that he can achieve so much in 2 trail rides and it's taken me almost a year to get where I am. But we are different people, have different riding styles and different goals, I suppose. I'm riding because *I* like to ride, just as he is. And we don't have to prove anything to each other.

We just have to ride. :)

Walking around Wally Hell...and came across this fishing thing. By Shimano. Same Shimano that makes bike stuff I assume. Interesting. :-)

Protect Your Junk

Can't remember how I came across this site, but since it has to do with "your junk" and is called "dznuts" I was instantly pulled in and had to check it out.

It's chamois cream. You should check the site out - there's some funny shit on there. My favorite is this:

So really guys - protect your junk. Have your lady be your "official applicator."
